James Ingle was born in Orange Park, with family roots in Gainesville. He moved to Gainesville in 1997 and enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship with the electrician’s union, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. After graduation, James worked locally and around the country as a union journeyman electrician. He has worked as a journeyman electrician, foreman, apprenticeship instructor, organizer and president of his local union, IBEW local 1205.
James has been deeply involved in the local labor movement and workers’ rights. He was a champion for the local anti-wage theft ordinance, renters’ rights and anti-discrimination ordinances. He served on the Alachua County plan board, the Alachua County Charter Review Commission and the CareerSource North Central Florida Board.
James hopes to bring a blue-collar perspective to the commission, and to focus on working class issues and making Gainesville a better place for workers. In his spare time, James plays ultimate frisbee, rock climbs and enjoys traveling with his wife, local music legend Mama Trish.
