The world famous Apollo Theater is searching for Gainesville talent. The winners will be announced at the “Summer (You)th Celebration!” on July 27. Two winners ages 5-25 will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete on Amateur Night at the Apollo! The search is on!

Requirements

• What talents are we looking for? Singers, rappers, dancers, spoken word artist, musicians or variety acts
• Age requirements: 5-25
• Grand prize limited to a group of three or less
• Music is not provided
• Two winners ages 5-25 will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete at Amateur Night at the Apollo!
• You must be present to win. The winners will be announced on July 27, at the Summer (You)th Celebration! at Depot Park from 6 to 10 p.m.

Rules

• Groups must be 3 or less
• An “amateur” is considered to be anyone who does not have a recording contract with a major label or studio.
• Auditions should be in good taste with no profanity, including racial epithets or slurs (this includes the “n” word).
• No lip-syncing, singing along with track lead vocals, or post-production engineering of lead vocals permitted.
• Prepare an audition piece up to two minutes; the producer has the discretion to stop the audition at any time.
• Bring music track ready to play
• Anyone 17 or under must have written parental consent to audition and to be considered for the grand prize
• Anyone 17 or under must be accompanied by someone over the age of 18 at the time of audition
• All participants must be present on the evening of July 27 during the the Summer (You)th Celebration! at Depot Park from 6 to 10 p.m.
