On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the City of Gainesville, together with Alachua County and the University of Florida, is hosting a community workshop to address pressing concerns about street safety, as well as bike and pedestrian infrastructure planning. The workshop will be held at the Harn Museum Auditorium (3259 Hull Road) from 4-6 p.m.

The plan will introduce the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan and the Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan, two major initiatives aimed at making streets safer for all residents.

The event comes in response to recent fatal crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists. This represents a key opportunity for residents to share their experiences and contribute to a vision for safer streets across Gainesville and the county.

The SS4A Plan seeks to identify and address the systemic issues contributing to these incidents, with a focus on policy improvements and actionable projects to reduce risks for all road users.

In addition, the Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan will present the first significant update to Alachua County's bike and pedestrian master planning in over 20 years, aiming to expand and enhance no-motorized networks to support safe, accessible travel for residents who walk or bike.
