- City residents: $100.50*
*Proof of residency (GRU bill or voter ID) is required at time of registration.
- Non-city residents: $125.50
- $25 field trip fees may apply, weeks 2 & 3
Program Information
The purpose of our Lifeguard Camp is to increase self-confidence and promote safe behavior in the aquatic environment. Throughout the course, campers will learn a wide range of skills including first aid, CPR and rescue techniques. The program encourages campers to take on leadership roles, as well as challenge them mentally and physically. Besides learning the primary responsibilities of a lifeguard, this course is action packed with fun activities, games, free swim and field trips!

Prerequisites
Campers attending the Jr. Lifeguard camp must be able to swim and complete the following tasks before the first day of camp! Swim tests can be administered at Dwight H. Hunter (Northeast) Pool and H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Pool. Please call the pool before coming. Hunter: 352-334-2191. Cherry: 352-334-2187.
● 100-yard swim
● 1-minute unaided float
● Retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 8-10 feet of water
Dates and Location
Camp Location: Cherry Pool, 1001 NW 31st Drive
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (Please do not drop students off earlier than 7:45 a.m.)
Camp Session 1: June 10-14
Camp Session 2: June 17-21
Camp Session 3: June 24-28
Camp Session 4: July 8-12
Camp Session 5: July 15-19
All campers are required to bring their own lunch, snacks, goggles, sunscreen, tennis shoes, socks, towel and swimsuit.
Denim shorts or cut-offs are not allowed to be worn in the water. Due to the nature of the camp, it is required that all female participants wear a one-piece swimsuit.
Campers have the opportunity to earn certification in CPR/first aid, but not in lifeguarding or AED.
