Public Notice for HMGP-4673-713 Florida Park Elevation Project

FEMA HMGP Mitigation Grant is being used to assist in funding the elevation of a flood prone structure to 1.0 foot above the Base Flood Elevation. This will provide a measure of protection against a "100-year flood" event.The public comment period is open for 15 days after posting.

For the 2024-2025 program year, the city expects to have available $1,386,148 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $548,431 of HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds. The city invites residents, housing and homeless partners, and other stakeholders to join us to help identify community assets, strengths, and gaps and determine the best use of funds for community change.

Gainesville’s new “open container” ordinances take effect Jan. 1

Beginning Jan. 1, open container restrictions, which were in place before the pandemic, will return for most of Gainesville. The only exceptions are two newly designated areas known as the Arts, Culture and Entertainment (ACE) Districts.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (July 20, 2023) – Following a series of budget workshops this spring and summer, the Gainesville City Commission today approved a proposed maximum millage rate of 6.4297 for fiscal year 2024 to fund general government operations.
