Fred Cone Park

Featuring an eight-lane, competition-quality, 440-meter, rubberized track, and interior field, Fred Cone Park is the premier track in Gainesville. This is the first track and field facility in the tri-county area that is open to the public. The interior of the track includes field event areas such as the pole vault, shot put, high jump and long jump and a well-lit multi-purpose field.

Lighting for the multipurpose field can be reserved from dusk until 10 p.m. Field reservations are available at $36 for a 2-hour time block through the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. Call 352-393-8538 or email PRCAreservations@gainesvillefl.gov for reservations.

Two basketball courts are located in the southeast portion of the park and are now lit from dusk until 10:00pm to provide extended hours of play.  The courts operate on first-come, first-serve basis.

Additional parking and a picnic area are also provided. There are grills, a pavilion and a playground. Dogs are allowed with a leash.

A branch location of the Alachua County Library District, Cone Park Branch, is located here.

Neighbors are welcome to pick and enjoy their fair share of mulberries, peaches and loquats as Fred Cone Park is home to one of Gainesville’s edible groves.

The park is named for successful businessman and banker, Fred Marion Cone, who served two terms as Mayor and 12 years on the City Commission. He and his wife, Lois Beville Cone, made significant contributions to our community through their involvement in civic affairs.
