Fred Cone Park

Featuring an eight-lane, competition-quality, 440-meter, rubberized track and interior field, Fred Cone Park is the premier track in Gainesville. This is the first track and field facility in the tri-county area that is open to the public. The interior of the track includes field event areas such as the pole vault, shot put, high jump and long jump and a multi-purpose field. Two basketball courts are located in the southeast portion of the park.

Additional parking and a picnic area are also provided. There are grills, a pavilion and a playground. Dogs are allowed with a leash.

A branch location of the Alachua County Library District, Cone Park Branch, is located here.

Neighbors are welcome to pick and enjoy their fair share of mulberries, peaches and loquats as Fred Cone Park is home to one of Gainesville’s edible groves.

The park is named for successful businessman and banker, Fred Marion Cone, who served two terms as Mayor and 12 years on the City Commission. He and his wife, Lois Beville Cone, made significant contributions to our community through their involvement in civic affairs.
