The Lincoln Yard Park is located in the historic Gainesville neighborhood of Lincoln Estates. Decorative columns and landscaping welcome neighbors at the Eight Avenue entrance. The park features a shaded 1/3 mile walking trail with decorative wood-fence railing around a stormwater pond. There is a playground for the kids and an adult fitness area. The fitness area features an incline bench, pull up bar, push up station and more. Benches provide peaceful spots to enjoy nature.
Colorful biographical signs paying homage to notable Lincoln Estates residents are displayed along the pathway. Andrew and Catherine Mickle are remembered for their contributions as esteemed educators supporting students at area high schools and being active leaders in the community. Andrew Mickle went on to become aquatics director at the City of Gainesville. Coach and educator T.B. McPherson is highlighted for his 40 years of service to our community. Neighborhood founder Philip Emmer is also recognized for his innovation in developing this neighborhood's affordable, quality homes.
This Wild Spaces Public Places project was completed in July of 2024. Construction of the park cost $370,000.
