Welcome to Sharmie Park.
Relax on a park bench under the trees while your kids climb and slide on the updated playground. Sharmie Ffar Park is a quaint spot adjacent to the Wilhelmina Johnson Cultural Center, and is a great place for picnics. Enjoy the tree-covered open spaces with a book or enjoy some quiet meditation. Dogs on leashes are welcome in this park.
Sharmie Ffar Park was named for Gainesville businessman Marshall A. Raff. The park property was donated to the City of Gainesville by the Raff family. Raff’s wife, Marcia Raff, is an internationally-known sculpture artist. “Sharmie” was Marcia’s nickname for her husband, and Ffar is Raff spelled backwards.
