Cultural Program and Community Event Grants

Gainesville City Lights

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) administers approximately $300,000 in grants to non-profit organizations for cultural programs and community events. The city has traditionally supported the arts through grants for cultural programs, support services and facilities. PRCA, along with the Gainesville Cultural Affairs Board, has pledged its resources toward making the arts and culture accessible to all neighbors, including historically marginalized populations and those with special needs.

All agencies or individuals requesting funding for cultural activities and community events will be referred to PRCA for evaluation under the appropriate grant category before the Gainesville City Commission will consider their request.

GCRA

GCRA Grants

These grants are run by the City's Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area (GCRA), not the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. However, these grants are still relevant to many of our cultural organizations who organize events.

GCRA Grants and SEAS grants are eligible to used together for the same event, provided that the funds are used for different costs.

If your organization is interested in applying for a GCRA Grant and an Outside Agency or PAPI grant, there are some restrictions that apply. Please reach out to both departments to inform them of your intent to apply for each grant so that we can review whether your event would be eligible for both grants.
